Biography

Geoff Baragar, KC conducts workplace investigations, and he also maintains a general litigation and appellate practice including in the area of criminal law. 

Prior to joining Mitha Law Group, Geoff was a senior Crown Counsel in British Columbia. As a major crime prosecutor, he was trial and appellate counsel on two of the largest prosecutions of the past 20 years, Robert Pickton and the “Surrey Six” murders involving the Bacon crime organization. In addition to trial work, he has had conduct of numerous appeals and has appeared in all levels of court including the Supreme Court of Canada.

Geoff has extensive experience interviewing and cross-examining witnesses, analysing their evidence, and determining findings of fact. As such, he is adept at investigating workplace complaints and resolving disputes in a timely, confidential and efficient manner.

In addition to his work as a prosecutor, Geoff was called to the Washington State Bar in 2002 and was a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), with a particular interest in U.S. – Canada border issues. Prior to joining the Crown, he practised litigation at Russell & DuMoulin. In his former life, Geoff worked as an economist building mathematical models at the Conference Board of Canada. Pursuant to the Commonwealth Scholarship program, he articled at Freehills in Melbourne, Australia, following graduation from the University of British Columbia.
